Interpretation Strategy
Interpretation Australia Silver Award 2012
The Story
In 1873 Henry Bastow became Victoria’s first architect to the Department of Education. Attending school had become immediately compulsory sending tens of thousands of children into education for the first time … and all at once! Bastow had a big job ahead of him.
The Strategy
The Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership commissioned an interpretation strategy to investigate the significance of Henry Bastow to our first Department of Education. The strategy became the foundation for a myriad of interpretive devices.
The plan led to CHI curating two trails, posters, booklets, web stories and three short films (one of which forms part of this Award).
