IBeacon Trails mobile app for Sovereign Hill Museum
Sovereign Hill is a major regional tourism destination offering a fun day out in a large replicated 1850s mining town. There are gold mines, camps, working factories and shops. You can even mine for gold!
IBeacon Technology
The client was keen to use IBeacon technology which allows for transmission to a device upon entering a particular location. Visitors move through the site and when within a few metres of an activity or interesting place an alert is heard and a stack of stories, historic factoids, images, slide shows and films become available.
The Commission
CHI was commissioned to direct the development of the content and liaise between the digital designers, Studywizz, and the site. It was a challenging job but nothing is quite as wonderful as walking through a small historic village, buying delicious old fashioned fare and hearing, not the roar of a V8 but the clip clop of horses.
